Mindanao
Mindanao is the largest southern island in the Philippines. KIM also has a camp and a children's home in the town of Malaybalay, a two hour drive from Cagayan de Oro where you fly into. Our team of 64 people sent 9 students and 2 teachers down to this island for 3 days this year for the first time. The pictures below can't even come close to showing the actual beauty compared to when you are there in person. Take a look at some of the pictures from the drive from Cagayan de Oro to Malabalay. Be sure to read some students' reflections on their time here as well. RM, CC, PJ
Meeting the Kids
The children in the children's home in Mindanao don't get visited by teams nearly as often as the kids in Manila so they were a little shy when we first arrived. However, after a day, they quickly warmed up to us.
The Property
Mt. Moriah camp is located in the mountains outside of Malaybalay. The scenery was amazing!
Serving
We were able to serve in a variety of ways there. Our biggest task was digging holes for the wiring of new lights for their soccer field. The ground was full of clay, which made it very difficult, but the students had great attitudes and even sometimes voluntarily worked through their water breaks in order to finish them before we left. As much as we could, we played with the children in the children's home.
Devotion at the Children's Home
These are some videos of the boys doing devos for the boys at the children's home. The electricity was out the second night so we did devos by flashlight.
The Indescribable Drive Home
We took a different route back to the airport so that we could see some more breathtaking views.
